BECAUSE WE NO LONGER HAVE REAL MENTORSHIP IN CHURCH. THERE IS YOUTH GROUP, YOUNG ADULTS, MARRIEDS, AND OLD PEOPLE MINISTRIES. Who passes the torch from generation to generation? Just like the American family has been eroded, so has the true church family. Everyone is separated. “Get those freakin kids out of our services, there botherin us” I’ve got it, lets eliminate Sunday School before service, and keep those kids separated in their own services down stairs while we praise Jesus upstairs. We will entertain them with some flashy Veggie Tales video where they never actually have to study or learn the word. We will cancel Sunday evening service and dedicate that time for youth group so we don’t have to have them botherin us in our morning services.

You know it sure is weird listening to an OLD Guy preach, as apposed to someone born after 1950. You can sure tell that old guy was mentored by an elder who was very versed in the word, not some Bible college where they teach you great catch phrases.

Personally, I don’t think we take God seriously anymore. We have lost the Fear of God the Father. Wide is the Road to destruction, and narrow is the path to Him, and few find it.

      Ewan,
Nice one. Its good to see that there are people unashamed of the gospel. :)

I do agree with Byron. Timothy did not go to Bible school, Paul mentored Him. Mentorship is a big part of discipleship, its something we need to get back to. Scholarship is fine, but its not substitution for being taught and led by The Spirit. Much of the academic division is proof that much of scholastic work is actually carnal, because were there are contentions and divisions the works of the flesh are made manifest. However if we are taught and led by The Spirit there is unity in Truth. Scholarship is fine, but both the lecturers and students must be humble enough to allow themselves to be taught by Our Only Teacher, The Messiah through His word and by His Spirit. This is one of the reasons the church is compromised, we trust in our own strength too much (the strength of the flesh). We need more brokenness.
