I am sorry that your guest, Jeff Bernstein, during his conversation, did fail to quote from no less a person than David:

“We are aliens and strangers in your sight, as were all of our forefathers” 1st Chronicles 29:15

We both Gentiles and Jews are “aliens” and “strangers” before God’s Holiness.

Until Jesus Christ is back on Earth, He remains “the Beginning and the End” of God’s plans to rescue humankind from Satan’s hands:

•Yes, Jewish people are with Christ at the Very Beginning of God’s plans: they are the First Ones to see the Glory of God revealed, however:
•We Gentiles are at the End and to the End with Christ, we are at the Completion of God’s plans, when we all will see the Glory of God revealed at Its Fullest.

I felt Jeff subtlety was saying that we Gentiles are to cater to Jews… I don’t think so. Jesus didn’t. Christ message is as strong to Jews as it is to Gentiles. Christ does not accomodate to our idiosyncrasy.

I love your show! God bless your work

Regarding the discussion of true and false conversion, for me it is a disturbing topic having been wrestling with this issue for years and still have yet to find a definitive answer. Maybe that I have OCD, yes. But tell me since i did not get to hear the whole show how does one be assured of their place in heaven, is it not only through God,s grace are we saved. Is their some secret formula that I am missing in this ultimately critical issue.

No secret missing. Faith is not an emotional feeling, its an act of trust. And true faith is a continual never ending string of acts of trust that work through Love. In other words, believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Yeshua is Lord. And continue believing it. The Holy Spirit will come to live in you once you believe so once you have the Holy Spirit you will continue to believe. The proof or evidence that some one is born again is the fruits of righteousness, the fruits of the Spirit will start to show. Its not just a matter of quiting bad stuff, its that every thing becomes an activity with which one can glorify God. God becomes the center of one’s life…the love for Him shines brightly in those who truly have faith, they do his commandments.

There are two ways to spot a false convert. First of all they will have a hatred for the ways of God even though they profess to be his followers. For example a homosexual preacher who though she/he has been admonished about his/her ways several times by loving brothers and sisters, continues to lead herself/himself and others astray unrepentantly. A person who claims to have been an ex-christian, John actually calls these sorts of people anti-christs. Basically a rebellious person who rejects Christ, and yet either claims to either be a christian or to have been a christian. Those are false converts, some bible’s refer to them as reprobate.

trust and courage are pretty similar though…I’d say trust is non emotional and courgae is like the emotion that can spring up from it……courage is important. God constantly tells his people to “be of good courage..” Courage comes only from faith or trust. Be of good courage brother.

      Lee,
There is a common misconception with regards to grace. You said, “Is it not only through God’s grace we are saved?” The answer is yes, it is only through God’s grace; but consider what the bible says about grace as a whole. We are commonly taught that grace means unmerited favor especially in pardoning sin, which it does mean that, but that is not all it means

Grace is help from God. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. The grace of God is opposite here of God’s resistance, it is His help to do something.
Grace teaches us to deny live godly and deny sinful desires IN this present life.
It was grace that made Paul the minister he was. Grace here was an enabling to perform something, be something. Grace is the presence and working of the Holy Spirit in us, ‘Christ in you the hope of Glory’… in a nutshell we have the ability of God in the context of grace that we did not have without grace.

1 John 3:6, 9-10 (Amplified) No one who abides in Him [who lives and remains in communion with and in obedience to Him- deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] commits (practices) sin. No one who [habitually] sins has either seen or known Him [had an experiential acquaintance with Him]. No one born of God [deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices sin, for God’s nature abides in Him; and he cannot practice sinning because he is born of God. By this it is clear who take their nature from God and are His children and who take their nature from the devil and are his children: no one who does not practice righteousness [who does not conform to God's will in purpose, thought, and action] is of God; neither is anyone who does not love his brother (his fellow believer in Christ)

I’ve heard people say “aren’t we saved by faith alone?” The answer is yes, but there too is a misconception. Faith works by love and overcomes the world. A person who has true saving faith, also by that same faith will begin developing in a new life of faith that works by love and overcomes the world; it is a faith that is not just a profession but begins to become actions, words, attitudes.

Paul wrote a few letters to ‘baby’ churches he had not seen, but he heard of their 1) faith, and 2) love for the brethren, love of other Christians; and upon hearing of their faith and love of the brethren he prayed for them and was moved to write to them concerning foundational issues of the faith. If there is not this evidence of faith, and love for other Christians there has been not conversion but a deceitful work of the flesh.

      RE: True and False Conversion

Holy People, saved people or saved OT Saints sometimes committed great sin. Remember King David taking Bathseba and then ordering the death of Uriah? How about how Solomon had a harem with many wives and turning away from God to worship other gods? Of course these men were punished severely by God for these horrible actions, and these were OT Saints yet to taste the power of Christ cleansing their sins (they were only covered). I truly expect King David and Solomon to be in Heaven.

Now, certainly with the power of the Holy Spirit we do change and grow in maturity, but do not diminish His power by claiming a murderer, or thief, or womanizer can enter heaven after being fully converted by the salvation of Christ. The chastening of the Holy Spirit when you sin and sometimes causes me to get sick to my stomach, and start shaking and crying. Struggling is part of Christian growth, be worried if you no longer struggle.

All in all, it is up to God to decide. Paul Washer often asked if you are regenerate(saved) by asking: “Do you hate the sin you once loved ?”

      Blessings,
      Daniel
