I wish Dr. Brown had millions of listeners , that are seeking the true messiah not the compromised version given in a lot of pulpits today. His questions will truly make you pick up your bible or study more for those of us that still are true to gaining more knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Now to give my input on the question Dr. Brown asked on revelation( The book of). I truly thank God for his truth espescially the book of revelation because through reading the book of revelation , I was stirred by the word and was saved, I gave gave my life to Christ because I came to the knowledge that He was the only one wwho could save me from God’s wrath and from myself. I believe the book of revelation is a book of past , present , and future events , I know those that read the word with understanding , will truly be blessed as promised, It really blessed me , I’m a living witness, with all that’s going on in the world remember this God is always good, nomatter what natural disaster or death or circumstance God is forever good.

      Rickie,

Thanks for your kind words — and amen to Revelation being past, present, and future in its application. Continue to stand strong as a witness!

I was discussing the hate crimes bill with someone who didn’t see a reason to vote against it. He pointed out gender identity needs to be protected by explaining there are a lot more people born as hermaphrodites (or intersexuals) than people expect. I’m no medical expert, but I was reading that there are plenty of cases of children born as hermaphrodites where in many cases, the doctor makes the decision to remove one of the two functional male or female reproducive organs. The argument is that many children are never taught that this happened to them and this explains why when they get older, they feel more like the opposite gender than the one they were assigned at birth. Doctors are accustomed to assigning a baby as either boy or girl, and sometimes difficult decisions are made to make them one or the other based on ambiguous circumstances. The information I read said that when such cases are so ambiguous, doctors should not remove anything. I read that the doctor can give them an assigned gender in these cases, and as they get older, the child can decide what they really are, and have surgery if they choose. Maybe this is what is being argued about gender identity with regards to the hate crimes bill? Does anyone have any personal thoughts/knowledge on this and hermaphrodites? We really need to have an answer for this about hermaphrodites and what gender they really are, and have an answer for which gender they can marry so as not to fall into the same sex marriage category!! This is a big argument I’ve been seeing more and more. I would really like to see some interactive discussion here and confront this head on. Apparently, there are people really born like this.

      Michael,

Gender identity has virtually nothing to do with the hermaphrodite issue. I can refer you to relevant literature on this subject, but that is not what gender identity is about. Rather, this term deals almost exclusively with someone’s “perceived” gender and their “right” to express themselves according to what they believe their gender is — in other words, a cross-dresser (formally called a transvestite), to give one common example. Now gender identity is put in the same category as race and religion. Outrageous!

Yes Dr. Brown, I understand what you are saying about gender identity, and I agree. Some people I’ve talked with are throwing the hermaphrodite issue in there as well, and aside from the hate crimes bill, they’re saying hermaphrodites have a right to be bisexual or gay. Although I don’t agree with them, I’d really appreciate any relevant literature you mentioned you could refer me to on this so I can be better educated on this topic.

      Michael,

Here are some Christian websites that address these questions:

      http://www.carm.org/questions/about-sexuality/what-about-hermaphrodites

      http://www.helium.com/items/959910-sound-bible-christian-teaching-pertaining-to-intersex-and-gender-identity

http://www.christianforums.com/t2119090/ (this is a forum where folks interact with a hermaphrodite)

This, of course, is a very difficult issue — who can imagine what these dear people go through — but the best answers are not in the realm of homosexuality.

Thanks Dr. Brown. Yes, I agree this is a difficult issue and homosexuality is never justified. The second link you provided lead to another link that offered an ideology I had never considered before. That link is: http://www.custance.org/old/se ed/ch15s.html. It basically said that the first Adam (before Eve was created) was intersexed, where Adam would have been able to reproduce alone. Then it said God pulled the female portion out of Adam to form a helpmate. I’m trying to relate my Biblical understanding that God made Eve from one of Adam’s ribs vs this belief that Adam was originally intersexed. This belief does however seem to show Adam being originally created as a copy of God’s self unity and sufficiency. I think the author of this article was basically trying to show that those who are born intersexed need to see that they are born the way the first human was created in order to help them not feel so separate. I’m not totally sure what to make of this. Do you have any personal thoughts on the possibility of Adam originally being intersexed?

Looks like the link I sent didn’t work. Let me try again. http://www.custance.org/old/seed/ch15s.html

If this doesn’t work, you can copy and paste it from the link you provided.

Dr. Brown, what do you think about David Chilton’s position about the end times?  His position intrepet the events that Jesus talked in Mathhew 24 as past, this is sustained by the destruction of the Temple in 70 A.D.  the same as for the seven churches in the book of Revelation. What is your view on that?

I am really late to ask, but I just listened this show. Thanks
