This is an important issue, considering what Jesus said about not rejecting the law in the SOM if you follow him. James stated we would be judged by the "Perfect Law of Liberty," i.e. the Golden Rule. What is written about it being our "schoolmaster" to take us to the Christ must be accounted for, as must the decalogue. Without moral reference, there are no standards. The law is spoken of by Paul from many angles, some which state its goodness, others is infantile indications of necessary compliance to its standards. What comes into question is whether the law is necessary to one's life once one is following the Messiah. Recall the 613 elements of the Mosaic Law, and that there are many more commandments in the New Testament, then try to conclude that such law is not called for by the observant believer: it simply does not wash. The Apostles' teaching carry many lists of compliance for our behavior forward into the NT from the Tenach. Would not this mean that dos and don'ts are also so carried forth from the Law?

It is another issue altogether, in Romans 6 - 8 as to whether or not humans can keep the law, or meet its requirements. Jesus seems to say in the SOM that his standards are even higher, and require abiding in Him (later through the Spirit) to be able to do greater things than He accomplished, while, obviously, complying with the basic Perfect Law of Liberty requirements of the heart which He, James, Peter, Paul, and John often cite in many ways (e.g., "the only thing that counts is faith expressing itself in love". Paul, in Galatians). Sexual behavior in particular is the stuff of moral purity and the fruit of false teachers, as both are mentioned in the NT.

God bless you!
You know Dr. Brown it is the rare straight soul that so openly reaches out in love and support to people in the church with this issue.
Would that there were more people to answer the call to listen and minister.

"Love Has a Better Way" is probably the most inspired event conceived in a very long time. You will be blessed for allowing God to use you in such a humble manner.

All I can really say, is that once you are saved, we are told not to live in sin. I don't believe the law was abolished, but the sting of the law the punishment for disobedience, was taken up on Jesus' body.
