Why do people have to state their title when the producer simply asks for their name and location, watch out for people who make a point to let you know they are a pastor, minister etc…

This false idea of conversion is what happens when people are not filled with the Holy Ghost (I gaurantee if you ask them, they dont even believe in being filled with the Holy Ghost).

It is very possible to know the written word in your mind(as the Pastor stated, he knows every single verse) and not know the Living Word, or have the Holy Spirit active in your life (evidence Holy Spirit is not in control of your life is when you phone in radio stations and shout rudely at the person in charge and totally refuse correction) If the pastor was having a bad day, that is understandable, but if that is how he normally interacts with people that is a terrible witness, and is clearly not of the Spirit. It was very irritating to hear such a blatant perversion of the Gospel.

Jude 19- these are soulish people, who cause divisions, and dont have the Spirit.

The Pharisees knew the Scripture, inside and out, frontward and back, they knew the commentaries, but they missed the whole point…. a changed life, becoming a loving, caring, calm, compassionate person who truly reflects God’s image and reveals what God is like to the rest of the world.

If I talk to you, and you don’t reflect the character of God, how can you say you are a regenerated, repaired vessel?

Quoting Scripture has no effect on these kinds of people because they already know them! I can quote Jude 4 “For certain men have crept in unnoticed………who turn the grace of God into a license for sin”! but they have already decided it doesnt mean that.

No one ever questioned if salvation is a free gift or not, of course it is, but when you receive that gift (forgiveness of sins, eternal life, and the Holy Spirit inside of you to guide you in your new life) You are going to be totally different as a result, your not the same)
“If God forgives you, and doesnt command a change in your actions, then the grace of God is an accomplice to sin”

Be careful when you think you “know every verse of the Bible” because you might end up crucifying the Savior.

“but, but, but the John McCarthur study Bible said I was eternally secure!”

So you think that means you can live how you like, and anyone who disagrees is preaching salvation by works?

Notice that the people who challenge the idea of a changed life are angry, stubborn, arrogant, and don’t respect authority? Maybe its because their lives are not changed?

There is also a difference between how saints live in the Old testament and New testament, we have the Holy Spirit. They didnt. (some denominations still dont).

If by God’s grace we can live how we want, Let’s all get together and go to the Strip Club this weekend, and next weekend. Have some drinks, get some lap dances, maybe even take a stripper home, sound good? Let’s have fun boys, were saved by grace! not works.

Then afterwards we can tell the strippers they are going to hell and they need to join our church.

Then we can call Michael Brown’s show, shout at him, interrupt him, and tell him he is committing blasphemy for saying we cannot live how we want.

Maybe I was wrong to have stopped living in sin, apparently its not possible and I will be ok if I go back to my old life.

Wow! after todays show I have to say Wow! When our so called leaders are confused and trying to lead confused or seeking people how can we reach the mark. In a day when churches are teaching what’s required and what’s not required we really need to get it straight by the word of God. This is what’s required a life that brings forth fruit of repentance. Everyone think they are good people , well remember what Jesus said to the young rich man when he called Jesus good master , well Jesus said and I quote there is none good but one and that’s God. Let’s get real if you are saved your life should show it . Enough of this foolishness, the church is the last place we need liberalism . Like I said the real or true church is going to be revealed and the phonies will be brought to the light.I hope I’m not coming off too strong but this doctrine doesn’t even make bad sense.

      Dr. Brown,

May I encourage you to take the time to lay out the theology behind the form of eternal security that the Pastor and the Minister that called in were defending. I think it’s important that people see the whole system of this particular form of Dispensationalism that leads to these viewpoints. For years I thought everyone who believed in eternal security believed what those who called in believed. I didn’t realize that there were many who held to an eternal security position (Perseverance of the Saints) that gives no license to sin. I was shocked when I read John MacArthur’s book The Gospel According to Jesus. I couldn’t believe that what he was saying was very much similar to what you had written in It’s Time to Rock the Boat. Now I still disagree with the Reformed viewpoint, but it’s really not worth the fight that the “Free Grace” position is (That’s reserved for the UIL  in T.U.L.I.P.  ;) ).

Anyway, I would like to hear you take your audience more in depth to the theological system behind the specific doctrines. I believe it makes dialogue much easier when we understand why they are reading the Bible in the way that they are. This would also fit in well with much of the Eschatology that you’ve been discussing ;) . By the way, I’ve been trying to decipher your end times views for years and I’m thinking you’re generally a Historic Premillennialist as I am.

      God Bless,

      Steve

As a Calvinist, I really want to make it known that I don’t think  the “Once Saved, Always Saved” argument is a debate about Calvinism–it is really more of a debate about the nature of sanctification.  I categorically reject the notion that saving faith can be separated from sanctification.  It is completely unbiblical.  No Calvinist that I know would ever argue that it can.

The Parable of the Wedding Feast in Matthew 22:1-14 gives an excellent example of how sanctification is one the key markers of true election.  Jesus says that the key difference between the ones who are “chosen” and the ones who are the “called” is the consecration (i.e. sanctification) that those who are truly chosen undertake.

*sigh*.  I wish I would have been able to call in for this broadcast.  Is there a way to listen to the broadcast live via the internet?

      In Christ,
      Rob

Matt is an example of what you face from calvinists on youtube all day long, Its like me when I getting into Finnis Dake’s teachings, I believed every word he said, but now I see that though some of his teachings were valueable, he didn’t hold the copyright on the bible, The Holy Spirit does.

      God Bless – Cliff

Sorry to add another comment, but arent we overlooking somthing very simple?  Prov. 23:7b  “for as he thinks in his heart (mind) so is he, Who is he but any man? you are what you think! therefore, to change your mind is to change your life

I really suppose I should listen to the whole show then comment? Anyway, as I know from studying Law, the two most impotant words are very very sinple words (and & or) Likewise a very simple word can clear up all this confusion…”For God so loved the worls that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever Believes IN him shall have everlasting life.”  The word in denotes unity, therefore, Whosoever TRUSTS in unity with the Son shall have everlasting life.  So what is John 3:16 calling us to do? Trust in unity with the person of Jesus Christ (that would include all his teachings, all his acts, and his very personality which is Love. Now Love (Agape )is Goodwill and if we walk in Goodwill as we are commanded we will fulfill the Law just as  Jesus did. Paul tells the Corintians that Love (agape) dsoes not participate in sin (paraphrase) Thus, Love shuns sin, True Love teaches against Sin because sin destroys humankind, If you think your saved and you do not have Love you’re a fool, and as Paul puts it in Romans 11; You…will be Cut off.  There is no biblical doctrine of once saved always saved (aka “perservence of the saints”) There is only the promise that if you do not turn from Jesus or jump out of the sheep pen (jn.8) he will keep you and do mighty works inside you.  To qoute you Dr. Brown: “Seek God, Run after him.” this is the only way we will be sancified and glorified, It’s our choice and our responsiblity!

I’m just a little disturbed how too many Calvinists seem to adore “Big Names” over the Bible itself. You begin a discussion and all of a sudden the Bible goes out the window and you hear:

      “Sproul!”

      “MacArthur!”

      “Piper!”

      “Spurgeon!”

Saving faith, is a faith that that works by love, or it is no faith at all.  The devil believes in a general sense, but does not love God.  It is impossible to have a faith that works by love, when I am a continuing habitual liar, fornicator; if I continue to be a liar, I don’t love God, i haven’t even begun to love God if I have still cleaved so much to my selfishness so as to continue lying, fornicating.  There has to be a breaking away from selfishness, and a beginning of love- that is repentance; without which there cannot be repentance.  It’s turning from selfishness to love, and that is the love the faith works by.  This faith working by love will overcome worldliness.  My first act of love toward God in my life was an apology when I saw my life in light of “you shall have no other Gods before me” and realized my whole life was a violation of not only the law of God, but a violation of God himself.  After I turned from my selfish lawlessness, I believed and began to follow Jesus, but not until then.
