How am I sure? I kind of understand it this way. It’s almost like I have a bounty on my head. Jesus payed that bounty so I did not have to be killed. He took my place, my punishment, my sins. He took what I deserved.
The Bible is clear on our salvation, we can be sure, because God doesn’t lie.

What is different about the Day of Atonement from the other Festivals?
1-Day of Atonement is the only Festival where – Day is not observed as a joyful Sabbath. Atonement is an annual day of humiliation, expiation and presentation before Yahweh.
2-Day of Atonement is only Festival where – Yahweh commands His children to fast
Lev 23:27-28 “Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord. And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make and atonement for you before the L-rd your G-d”
3-Day of Atonement is the only Festval where – Duties and routines of priests changed.
1st change – While common priests served with High Priest daily outside the Holy Place. On this day, no priest could be near the Holy Place while the High Priest was inside.
Lev 16:17 “And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to make an atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made an atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel”
7 duties performed by earthly High Priest – Typify duties performed by the heavenly High Priest
Heb 8:5-6 “Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moshe was admonished of G-d when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount. But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises”
1st Duty – High Priest selected a sin and burnt offering to present for personal sin. This was the only time a male would be offered.
Lev 16:3 “Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin offering, and a ram for a burn offering”
What did this require he do to make this offering? He had to remove his glorified garments, wash himself and then put on his holy garments.
Lev 16:4 “He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with a linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired: these are holy garments; therefore shall he wash his flesh in water, and so put them on”
2nd Duty – High Priest selected sin and burnt offering to present for sin of the nation
Lev 16:5 “And he shall take ot the congregation of the children of Israel TWO kids of the goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering” One of the kids was for the Sin and one for the Scape.
What did this require he do?
Lev 16:7-8 “And he shall take the TWO goats, and present them before the L-rd at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. And Aaron shall cast lots upon the TWO goats; one lot for the L-rd, and the other lot for the scapegoat”

3rd Duty – He killed a bullock for the sins of his house (fellow priests) on the bronze altar
Lev 16:11 “And Aaron shall bring the fullock of the sin offering , which is for himself, and shall make an atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bullock of the sin offering which is for himself”
He then took incense from golden altar and went into the Holy Place to sprinkle bullock blood
Lev 16:12-14 “and he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the L-rd, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the vail: And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the L-rd, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not: And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall be sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times”
4th Duty – He exited the Holy Place, then killed 1st goat for on bronze altar and went back into the Holy Place
Lev 16:15 “Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat”
5th Duty – He exited the Holy Place and then came back in to make atonement for the Holy Place
Lev 16:18-20 “And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the L-rd, and make an atonement for it; and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about. And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times, and clease it, and hallow it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel. And when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy place, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat”
Why did the High Priest have to do this? Because no one could enter into the Holy Place until the next Day of Atonement.
6th Duty – Lev 16:21-22 “And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness: And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat into the wilderness”
What was the proof that Yahweh accepted the sacrifice? They tied a red chord around the goat’s neck and if it turned white, that meant that Yahweh accepted the sacrifice.
7th Duty – He took off holy garment, washed his body, put his glorious garment back on, then made the burnt offerings
Lev 16:23-24 “And Aaron shall come into the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall put off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the holy place, and shall leave them there. And he shall wash his flesh with water in the holy place, and put on his garments, and come forth, and offer his burnt offering, and the burnt offering of the people, and make an atonement for himself, and for the people”

And, these were annual, and temporary outworkings for the purposed outcome. How much greater is the permanent and kind outworking of Yeshua’s passover atonement, crucified outside the city, yet on the higher extension of Moriah, so receiving his shed blood?
