   Thank you for discussing “Father God”. As someone whose father was very emotionally distant, I’ve struggled to relate to God in His “loving Father” mode (Abba). Thank you for discussing how to seek intimacy through prayer!

   David’s my hero.

   He was Rich. Famous. Got the babes. Rock star and talented musician. Killed Giants; war hero. Righteous king of Israel. Son of God. Prophetic voice. The father of the promised King. Man after God’s heart. Committed adultery and murder and lived to tell the tale. Built a massive mansion for himself. Was kept warm by beautiful virgins. Was a wise man. Had many sons. Lived a long and fulfilling life. Killed someone just because he cussed him (how many of us can do that?). Prepared the way for the temple. Eluded death upteenth times. Wow.

   He’s got it all. He’s got it all.

   What about doing a show on how to teach your kids to have regular quiet times with God? And how early this can be taught. My kids are going to be 1 and 3. I want to start this as early as I can. I know you teach them by example, and as far praise and worship goes, they love to do that. My little girl stops in the middle of playing and raises her hands and yells, “PRAISE GOD” and things of that nature. :0) I just don’t know when or how to begin teaching them to have the regular quiet times.

   Ben,

   Thanks for the great post. Seriously. You underscored the problem (How could David be called a man after God’s heart?) but somehow missed the solution. Were you able to listen to the show? If so, did it not adequately address for you this very real problem?

   I have a suggestion for a show this week, how about discussing the once saved always saved doctrine and the dangers of this, because it is a salvation issue.

   I liked Ryan’s statement, “There is a real significant difference between rebellion and weakness.”

   If we sin we have an advocate with the Father. If we continue in sin, it is rebellion and it proves that we do not know YHWH.

   1 John 2
   1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
   2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
   3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
   4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
   5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
   6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

   It is not enough to have the testimony of Y’Shua or faith in Him, we need to be obedient to YHWH’s Word.

   Revelation 12
   17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

   Revelation 14
   12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

   Revelation 22
   14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

   John says further:

   3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

   4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

   22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

   24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

   2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

   6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

   What is supposed to be our response to YHWH’s love? What is the fruit of us loving Him back?

   Ephesians 2
   1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
   2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
   3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
   4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
   5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

   Ephesians 5
   1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
   2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
   3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
   4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
   5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
   6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
   7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
   8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

   Please notice that obedience is associated with YHWH’s love for us. He forgives us and gives us life. Our response to YHWH’s Fatherly love is to want to be obedient.

   Isn’t it telling that two of the examples of people who were close to YHWH’s heart (David and John) spoke so often of being obedient to YHWH’s Torah?

   Psalm 119
   97 O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.

   Let’s love YHWH back! Let’s abide in His love.

   John 15
   9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
   10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.

   Y’Shua abode in His Father’s love by keeping Torah. Do we want to abide in the Father’s love too? Let us abide in the Son’s love and the Father’s love. Let’s keep both of their commandments.

   Bo,

   May I make a simple request (rather than having someone monitoring your posts all the time)? I think you’ve had more than enough space here to post your pro-Torah-observance thoughts (really, “more than enough space” is a understatement), so I am kindly requesting that you figure out a way to post on other threads here without trying to argue your position again. Not only are post like this overkill, but they are disrespectful to the forum here and takes attention away from the issues we’re addressing. Plus, you certainly have other, good things to say but they get lost in the midst of your pushing your Torah-observance position.

   So, to you and all those who would like to discuss Torah observance for today, this is NOT the thread to do it.

   Dr. Brown,

   I meant no off topic discussion here. As always, I attempt to stay on the subject matter. Suffice it to say that I was simply showing how YHWH’s Torah is applicable to the topic of “David and the Father heart of God.” Some may not have thought about this aspect of Davids response to YHWH’s love. My post above does show the correlation…I think. I’ll try to keep my posts on topic. Thanks for the opportunity to post freely. If you feel you must censor me, I will understand.

   Theoretically, I could bring up almost any major biblical subject and show how it is relevant to any particular thread, but that is obviously not the goal here. Simply respect the thrust of each thread and get off your hobby horse (however sacred it is to you), and everyone will benefit.
